Nia Collins Music

Who am I?

I studied music at Cardiff University where my principle study was voice, as a budding mezzo-soprano I was part of many excellent chamber choirs

throughout school, university and semi professionally after that.  I have sung at the Royal Albert Hall and the Festival Hall in London among many other fantastic venues, with jazz and rock bands and on stage in musical theatre productions.

I have been lucky enough to teach private voice and instrumental lessons since 1997 alongside college, university studies and my career after that. Having run Cheltenham Music Festival for several years I decided to take music education to the next level and retrained as a classroom music teacher at the University of Southampton.  I became a fully qualified classroom music teacher in 2009 and I have experience of teaching in secondary schools, 6th form and delivering singing workshops in primary schools.

I have coached students of all ages and abilities from supporting students to get an A in music A level to teaching 8 year olds to read music for the first time. I also run a community choir in Southampton, which is free and open to all ages and abilities, please feel free to come and join us ANY time we would love to see you there!

I believe that involvement in music at any level enriches your life and I hope to pass that on to as many people as possible.....
